Since I just commented on household bathrooms in Seoul, I thought I would do the same for public bathrooms.  In the US when you ask someone where the bathroom is and they say, “It’s outside around the corner to the left” we all giggle or get annoyed because we know it’s a joke.  Here when you ask the same question and get a similar answer- they are not kidding.  I have seen very few restaurants, bars, stores, that have their own bathroom.  Even my gym does not have it’s own bathroom, it has a sauna a shower, a bath house but no bathroom.
