Very rarely I take cabs to work.  Today was one of those days.  I called my favorite cab company, Flash Cab, waited the 5 minutes and I was on my way.  I got into the cab this morning and to no surprise the driver was chatting with someone on his blue tooth.  Now I don’t know if it’s company specific or every cab driver… but who are they always talking to?  I can never understand what they’re saying so there is no way for me to gather who the driver is conversing with.  I just always wonder who, at 8 in the morning are they chatting to for 10-12 minutes at a time?
When I get on the phone, I’m on and off in less than 5 minutes.  Perhaps it’s because I’m going to see the person soon, or I’ve already told them everything they need to hear, or I’m just not a chatty person?  My curiosity runs wild when I hear these conversations b.c I always wonder if it’s (a) company specific- like they’re talking to someone on the other end telling them where to go or (b) gender specific- but that would be odd b.c every guy I know hates chit chatting or (c) something cultural- maybe our culture is just not a conversational culture.  Then I go back and try to think of things that I could talk to someone about for an extended amount of time.
Since this happened again today, watch out friends… you might be getting a call- just to chat. ;)
