I think it’s so cool that you’re studying interior design, I can’t even hang a picture in the right place.  I do have a wall of keys that’s my pride and joy but it’s really a mess anyway. 

Back to you.  I think you should look on Craigslist for a roommate or a sublet.  It’s the best outlet we have when you’re out of state.  I would start your search in Ukrainian Village or Pilsen.  I don’t think they’re scary or terribly expensive.  You can also try Wicker Park, Wrigleyville or Lincoln Park.
